Meet The Team

Shannon

I’m Shannon Parker, and I have been fortunate enough to accomplish many things so far in my life. A pilot, a teacher, a skydiver, a skateboarder, a caregiver, and an enthusiast among many others. I spent time in California’s iconic Venice Beach where I worked as a teacher before finding my way to Pennsylvania.

I’ve been lucky to have a good and adventurous life, but I’ve also witnessed the less-fun sides of life on my journey. Whether it was students under my supervision or friends or family hitting rough patches, I understand that sometimes life throws your curves that you can’t dodge, hit, or even deal with on your own. It’s my privilege to use my privilege to help those that need help.

Baba

My name is Ababacar Ndiaye (call me Baba), and I am from Senegal in West Africa. Being that I was born and raised there, I’ve been inspired to help other people in need no matter where they are from. After living in Senegal from 1976 to 2000, I came to America where I was exposed to a completely different lifestyle.

When I made it to America, I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t yet speak English (Senegal’s primary language is French). So I had some trouble. My cousin was living in Philadelphia, and was able to get me work at Teca restaurant in West Chester. I started as a dishwasher, began learning English, and even started learning how to cook. Once I got established, got my feet under me, and I set myself up so I could start helping others.

Growing up, I was grateful to be part of a middle class family. My parents always taught us to share with others, and care about others. Growing up, I saw them give so much to those who were in need. Now, I am working to do the same.

Ahmed

My name is Ahmed and being an Egyptian-American inspired me to help others in need. After living in Egypt from 2006-2011, my family made many sacrifices to get me where I am today. Having the privilege and perspective of living in both countries, I can clearly see the differences between the U.S and other less fortunate countries. This has made me feel extremely grateful for the things we have here, but makes the urgency of serving those abroad quite clear.

The reality is this: Some countries in Africa still have to worry about basic human needs like food, water, and shelter. Things that we access on a daily basis. Things we take for granted.

I ran into Baba in 2017 and we’ve been great friends ever since, Baba is the kindest person you can ever meet and his dedication to his country and great ideas is what help fuel this cause. When Baba presented this idea to me, I was on board with no hesitation because it aligns directly with my goals and long-term vision. It is my mission to give back to those who are in those most need. I am grateful that I get to work with such amazing people like Baba and Shannon.
